Artist's Description

A series of black and white photographs depict scenes from what appears to be a vintage film or theatrical production, accompanied by German text which suggests an article or program notes. Portraits and scenes show characters in expressive poses, and one image includes a detailed model of a building, perhaps a set piece or prop used within the storyline. An outpouring of support in the media to counter Nazi propaganda underscored the Swiss position of neutrality during WWII. The film Marie Louise was the first foreign film to win an Oscar!
